» From Noon to Moon – from a bright and inviting atmosphere in the morning to a warm, intimate ambiance in the evening. «

The concept behind the Awara Day Bar is based on the motto “From Noon to Moon.” The association between the sun and the moon served as the design starting point and runs like a common thread through the entire concept. Semicircular and circular shapes are reflected in the furniture, lighting, and branding, lending the space a calm, soft aesthetic. The goal was to create a seamless transition from afternoon to evening – an atmosphere that changes throughout the day thanks to the lighting, allowing guests to experience the transformation of the day bar. During the day, coffee and lunch are ordered in the bright daylight of the passageway. In the evening, the bar’s atmosphere draws people inside.

The Day Bar is located in the historic Levantehaus – one of Hamburg’s most famous and historic merchant buildings. The unique location within the arcade called for a design concept that would blend harmoniously with the existing character of the space. The chosen colors and materials echo the existing atmosphere and integrate naturally into the overall picture, while simultaneously creating deliberate contrasts and new accents. The warm red tones of the brick architecture and the characterful terrazzo floor of the existing structure are reflected in the choice of materials and colors throughout the passageway. The interior further develops this connection and plays with various shades of green that are echoed in the Levantehaus’s historic windows. Through the deliberate use of mirrors, stainless steel details, and high-contrast color accents, the “Legacy Green” of the walls and ceiling is intentionally broken up by the “Dirty Lassi” shade. These design contrasts lend the space a sense of dynamism and underscore Awara´s distinct identity. The dining area is complemented by two works by artist Laura Ginis, created specifically for this location and tailored to the concept.

The branding, food, beverage, and interior concepts were developed collaboratively from the very beginning. The branding serves as the foundation for all further design developments. Everything is interconnected. The open, unpretentious atmosphere of the space is reflected in both the menu and the drinks. The interior provides the perfect setting – warm, inviting, and authentic.

Awara is the “rebel child” among existing concepts: bold, eager to experiment, and with a strong identity of its own. The combination of vibrant colors and bold, playful typography creates a distinctive brand identity that embodies Awara’s open-minded character and reflects the brand’s spirit of the times.
